N° 24: Raphaela Vogel — Psychogräfin
We are pleased to present Raphaela Vogels’ Psychogräfin, the latest work by an enormously rising artist.
We know Raphaela Vogel as a video bricoleuse who works as a sound engineer, performer, editor and cinematographer all in one. Thus, she forms new personae that act in post-apocalyptic, obsessively edited scenarios. In Son of a Witch (2018), her exhibition at Berlinische Galerie on the occasion of Videoart at Midnight Festival ’18, she films with drones and such disparate camera aids as a broomstick or, almost a postmodern Leda, a swan’s head pole, while lying on a round bed.
Psychogräfin demonstrates a more solipsistic, quasi-meditative conceptual origin of an otherwise expressionist practice that manages to show how pastiche, self-reflexive feminist media work can be conceptual today. [further information]
